How we make a difference

The process of adding tiny amounts of iodine to salt isn’t very exciting to look at, but the results are life changing in terms of children’s development. Women need to have adequate iodine status prior to and during pregnancy to protect the infant’s developing brain, and the child needs adequate iodine nutrition to grow and to learn. Our job is to ensure that every child, everywhere, is protected against loss of cognitive ability due to lack of iodine in the diet. In this section, you will read stories that capture the impact of our approach.
