Restoring knowledge creates consumer demand for iodized salt

In Central America, IGN continues its collaboration with the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP), recently working together to assess laboratory capacity across six countries and launch a regional fortification roadmap. In Honduras, IGN tested its Program Assessment Tool to guide new national regulation.

In South America, IGN is working to support small-scale salt producers in Argentina and Bolivia, providing technical support and helping improve iodization practices, upgrade equipment, and reactivate provincial oversight. These efforts are now expanding into more regions. In Peru, health worker training and local campaigns helped restore public awareness and create consumer demand for iodized salt.
